I'm nervous about tomorrow

I'm a bit nervous tonight. Tomorrow I'll be outing myself at a transgender presentation at work. The chairman of the T-Mobile Pride group was going to cancel the presentation unless he could make it relevant for T-Mobile employees in general. I backed out the first time, then changed my mind.

This interview of Janet Mock helped me realize how important it is for people to know we exist and have value. I've heard these sentiments before, but I always felt someone else should take the risk. Then this opportunity came up for me to speak at work...

The presentation will go fine. I enjoy public speaking. Its the days and weeks after I'm concerned about. I don't think I'll be physically hurt, probably just shunned by those who don't typically have to interact with me.

It doesn't help that today is TDOR (Transgender Day of Remembrance)  The day we remember and pray for those of us murdered the year before.

I love to make mountains out of mole hills.
